Banco Sabadell’s Chief Executive Officer, César González-Bueno, has delivered 32,000 euros in charitable funds raised through Aces Solidarios at the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell – Trofeo Conde de Godó. The main sponsor of this tennis tournament, now in its 72nd edition, is Banco Sabadell. Through this initiative, the Bank donates a sum of money for every ace served by players during the tournament. Since 2008, 57 organisations have benefited from the Aces Solidarios initiative, which has raised more than 430,000 euros since its inception.
This year, the funds raised through Aces Solidarios will go to social organisations in the Valencian Community that have responded to the DANA flash floods through charitable actions. The organisations recognised with an award were Alicante Gastronómica Solidaria, Fundación Horta Sud, Fundación Felisa and Fundación Colisée.
The awards ceremony was attended by representatives of these Foundations, namely: Jesús Navarro, Chairman of Alicante Gastronómica Solidaria (Alicante charity kitchen); Santiago Peraita, patron of Fundación Horta Sud (Horta Sud community Foundation); Yaisa Córdoba, Co-ordinator of the DANA recovery project for Fundación Felisa (Felisa Foundation); and Vicente Moros, Director of Fundación Colisée (Colisée third age Foundation).
During his speech, Banco Sabadell’s CEO, César González-Bueno, stated that for the Institution “it is very important, in addition to supporting families and businesses make their projects come true, to collaborate with various charitable initiatives. In the previous 17 editions of Aces Solidarios, we have financially supported 57 organisations. The Award Ceremony is always a very moving event. But this year, it is even more so, due to our deep ties with the Community of Valencia. We have paid close attention to the disaster caused by DANA, and we hope that this small contribution we make today helps you to continue carrying out the work you do with the same passion and energy as before. You are truly remarkable. Thank you very much on behalf of everyone here.”
Representatives of the organisations that were this year’s recipients of funds raised through the Aces initiative, spoke about the actions carried out by their organisations and thanked Banco Sabadell for its contribution. All the representatives underscored the importance that this gesture and the support for their work has for them.
The average number of aces recorded in each edition of the Open stands at 470. The highest figure was recorded in 2008 with 634 aces and the lowest figure in 2011 with 313.
For Banco Sabadell, this tournament and the charitable activities carried out in parallel to the Open are a way of linking the Institution’s corporate values with those of sports, particularly tennis, a fair play sport based on principles such as effort, respect and the desire to excel.
