Banco Sabadell reaffirms its ranking as leader in transparency and fiscal accountability among IBEX 35 companies by obtaining, for the third year running, the highest distinction in transparency and fiscal accountability, and consolidates its position as the only financial institution in that index to meet 100% of the standards analysed.
According to the latest edition of the study carried out by the Fundación Haz, entitled ‘Report on the transparency of fiscal accountability of IBEX 35 companies from 2014-2023’, based on tax information published in 2023, the Group has obtained the “T for Transparent” seal in the highest category (three stars).
For Banco Sabadell’s Head of Fiscal Advice, Carlos Lázaro, “this achievement is the result of the implementation of a set of best practices in relation to tax, stemming from a commitment to advance and promote transparency and collaborative relationships in tax matters. Our main objective is to continue promoting responsible taxation and transparency with all stakeholders, in line with the principles set out in the Group’s strategy”.
In this way, Banco Sabadell reaffirms its leadership in the financial sector and consolidates its position among the group of seven IBEX 35 companies that meet 100% of the twelve transparency standards analysed, arranged in six categories: general matters (fiscal strategy and code of good practice), fiscal reporting, international taxation, compliance system, auditing and governance.
In the current edition of the study, the Institution also received a special commendation for best practice in relation to information provided in the Activity Report of the Board Audit and Control Committee, standing out as an example of quality and accountability.
All of this is directly linked with Banco Sabadell’s commitment to sustainability and, specifically, with its strategic line to “progress as a sustainable institution”, underpinned by several pillars, including that of ensuring responsible and transparent taxation.
Sabadell’s Commitment to Sustainability
This recognition is also closely linked to the Institution’s comprehensive framework for action: “Sabadell’s Commitment to Sustainability”. The Institution’s governance model keeps environmental, social and governance (ESG) commitments in clear view in its strategy, aligns its business objectives with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and establishes action levers to transform and drive forward sustainable practices across all areas of the company.
In the same vein, the Institution is also distinguished by its commitment to provide sustainable financing, thereby strengthening its resolve to support its customers in their transition towards a greener economy.
