At Banco Sabadell we continue to forge ahead with our commitment to sustainability and the environment, focusing on the reduction of our own emissions, offsetting them and supporting customers with sustainability solutions.

Since 2021 we have been fostering several reforestation actions. One example is the investment in forestry projects in Spain with certification by the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge and at the end of 2022 with the reforestation of 20.6 hectares of forest lost due to fires in Galicia.

And we continue to participate in forestry projects linked to global initiatives and alliances.

Plant 100,000 trees with Mastercard

To be exact, we have renewed our support for the global project Priceless Planet Coalition (PPC) of Mastercard, which brings together the efforts of businesses, cities and consumers to make significant investments to preserve the environment through the replanting of 100 million trees by 2025 in conjunction with Conservation International and World Resources InstituteOn this occasion, Banco Sabadell contributes with a new collaboration to plant more than 13,500 trees that will help to capture more than 270,000 kg of CO2 in five years.

This action reinforces our previous commitment, with which we were the first bank in Spain to join the global initiative #PricelessPlanetCoalition with Mastercard in 2021, to plant 100,000 trees by 2025.

Preserving our planet together with our merchants

In our merchants’ establishments we are offering via our new Smart POS terminal the free application Redondeo Solidario, available in the Sabadell Store, so that customers of these stores can collaborate in the replanting of 100 million trees by 2025, in conjunction with Conservation International, World Resources Institute and Mastercard, and can round up each card purchase they make in their store.

All these actions are examples of our Sabadell Sustainable Commitment and reinforce the achievement of commitments we have already made to work together to drive a sustainable and carbon-neutral economy.
