On Sunday, 18 September, one of the most highly awaited sports events of the season is coming: Madrid Corre por Madrid.
The emblematic race, which for the ninth consecutive year is supported by Banco Sabadell, has become one of the most charming races on the national road race calendar over the years.
Year after year, #MadridCorre brings together a large number of runners to enjoy the race through the capital’s most emblematic streets.
The fourteenth edition of the race will have a new route with Paseo de la Castellana, calle Alcalá, and Gran Vía being the three main routes the race will pass through, as fostered by the Community of Madrid and organised by the MAPOMA Sports Association.
This year’s edition is expected to have 10,000 participants who will run 10 kilometres through the main arteries of the capital, including iconic spots such as the Santiago Bernabéu stadium, Plaza Colón, Puerta de Alcalá, Fuente de Cibeles, Edificio Metrópolis, Plaza de Callao, Plaza de España, among others. The long-awaited finish line will be on Paseo de Camoens.
As in previous years, the race will also serve to donate funds to charitable causes. On this occasion, the organisation will donate the registration fees to the Nipace Foundation, which helps children with cerebral palsy, to the Madrid por el Deporte Foundation, and to BUSF Bomberos Unidos. To date, Madrid corre por Madrid has donated more than €200,000 to different organisations.
This year, 185 organisation employees will be joining the event, putting on their running shoes to take to the streets of Madrid in this great celebration of sport.
We hope that they, as well as all the other participants, enjoy this great day that is synonymous with health, sport, and emotion.
