From 16 to 24 April, Barcelona becomes the epicentre of the world of tennis with the celebration of the Barcelona Open Banco Sabadell – 69th Conde de Godó Trophy.
Tennis players of the calibre of Stéfanos Tsitsipás, Casper Ruud, Pablo Carreño, and Carlos Alcaraz have already made their debuts on the courts of the Reial Club de Tenis de Barcelona – 1899, allowing us to enjoy the best clay court tennis.
In this edition, the most digital one yet, tennis enthusiasts are following the tournament on and off the courts with the digital initiatives organised by Banco Sabadell. Throughout the week, our interactive screen and our #SabadellTennisMetaverse have been the main attraction on the Fan Boulevard, with numerous visitors exploring the cutting-edge technologies we developed for the tournament.
The ‘phygital’ experience of our interactive screen, blending the physical and digital, has tested fans’ dexterity and reflexes, especially among younger visitors who have enjoyed playing with the light panel.
In the #SabadellTennisMetaverse, we have entered the tennis Metaverse through a fully immersive experience, taking us to the locker rooms and centre court.
To end this great sporting event, we have organised the digital initiative Smart Sitting on the singles final day, adding a special touch to this memorable edition.
On 24 April, the centre court of the Reial Club de Tenis de Barcelona – 1899 will host the crowning of this edition’s #BCNOpenBS champion, with an original Smart Sitting located behind each seat for spectators attending the match.
This is a smart, dynamically activated solution that includes a stand equipped with a QR code and contactless chip located on the back of each seat. Using a smartphone or NFC, attendees can interact and access exclusive content, such as a backstage tour led by the tournament director, David Ferrer. This enables fans to fully enjoy their passion for tennis in both the physical and digital worlds during the match.
Jordi Puig, CEO of Adest Company, explains the workings of Smart Sitting: “It’s a new concept that allows event attendees to access an exclusive experience via contactless technology on their mobile, from their own seat.”
And that’s not all. Sharing the video featuring David Ferrer on your social networks will enter you into a draw for a unique experience.
Win an exclusive experience
On 24 April, finals day, we are holding the last draw of this edition for an exclusive experience that allows the winner to go down to the centre court after the singles match to collect clay from the court and a tennis ball signed by the champion.
