Banco Sabadell has rolled out two mobile branches to provide services to various parts of the Valencian Community affected by DANA, so that families and businesses can carry out their usual banking business and can bring any queries they may have, in person, to the Bank’s customer facing staff.
In these mobile branches, customers can carry out the same banking operations that they would perform in a conventional branch, such as cash withdrawals, deposits and transfers, in addition to other frequent transactions.
The closure of some bank branches affected by the storm and the difficulties, brought on by the aftermath of DANA, faced by citizens when travelling to other locations to visit their bank, prompted the initiative launched by Banco Sabadell, which supplements services already put in place since the tragedy occurred, such as the exclusive helpline for affected customers or the dedicated hotline for all things related to insurance. Banco Sabadell is also continuing to work towards reopening all affected branches as soon as possible.
In particular, the Bank has positioned a mobile branch bus in the Sedaví district which, if necessary, could be relocated to other nearby locations. This “branch-on-a-bus” has several customer service workstations inside and is equipped to carry out cash transactions. The Bank’s staff are able to serve several customers on board simultaneously, and can offer solutions tailored to the specific needs they may have at this time.
Banco Sabadell has also rolled out another mobile branch, a somewhat smaller van, which serves the needs of customers in other towns and villages. Initially, this van is providing services in the Albal and Massanassa vicinities, although it may be relocated depending on local needs and vehicle mobility issues in the affected area.
For the director of Banco Sabadell’s Eastern Territorial Division, Fernando Canós, the rollout of this mobile branch service in different locations of the Valencian Community “reinforces our Institution’s commitment to this region and to the people who have been affected by the DANA storm”.
“At Banco Sabadell we are very mindful that people come first and, because of that, we are firm in our commitment to remain close at hand for families and businesses in the area, both with these initiatives and others that we intend to roll out”, Canós indicated.
Banco Sabadell also offers customers a fast and simple cash withdrawal service at post office branches.
Cash dispensers and co-working space
Banco Sabadell continues to study and monitor the situation in these territories in real time and continues to work on providing new services and tools that may help to alleviate the day-to-day situation of citizens affected by DANA.
In this respect, it has installed a temporary unit equipped with two ATMs in the Benetúser municipality, which will facilitate cash transactions for many citizens in the area. These ATMs will dispense cash to customers of the Bank and other users, with no fee, until 1 December at least.
In the same vein, the Bank has also set up another unit equipped with a cash dispenser in the Algemesí district and will provide a co-working space in this vicinity to offer in-person customer services for local citizens.
0% credit for three months
Banco Sabadell has used the new Guarantee Lines of the Official Credit Institute (Instituto de Crédito Oficial, or ICO) to offer its customers who are individuals, self-employed professionals, businesses or retail outlets a line of credit with 0% interest during the first three months to help those affected by the DANA storm to return to normal as quickly as possible.
After three months and for a period of up to five years, the interest rate that Banco Sabadell will apply to these loans will be 2.5% APR.
In response to citizens’ needs, Banco Sabadell set up a charity account to raise funds to help with the reconstruction of areas impacted by DANA. The Bank made an undertaking to double the amount donated by citizens, up to a maximum of three million euros, bringing the total amount already raised to more than six million euros. The account will remain open to continue receiving donations from citizens.
In addition, as part of its support for the Valencian Community, the Bank has approved a 100 million euro extension of the line of credit available to the Valencian government (Generalitat Valenciana), and has also green-lit the extension, initially up to 75 million euros, for the official funding and guarantee facilities of the Mutual Guarantee Society (MGS), so that this institution can help those affected with what they need.
