Banco Sabadell has reached an agreement with Afin SGR, the mutual guarantee society of the Autonomous Community of Valencia, to expand its financial support offered to SMEs affected by the DANA flash floods to help them recover their economic activity through loans and working capital credit at zero cost for the customer.

Under the partnership agreement, the financial institution will offer the new financing facility for SMEs and self-employed professionals called the ‘DANA 0% Loan’ (Préstamo DANA 0%), in order to provide direct emergency financing for their investments or working capital. The loans are subsidised by the Valencian government at zero cost and financed by Banco Sabadell with the Afin SGR guarantee.

Those eligible to apply for the financing will be natural or legal persons, partnerships, cooperatives and social economy enterprises, among other economic sectors.

The agreement states that the loans must be used to finance investment projects or working capital linked to their professional activity, in order to recover from the damage caused by the DANA flash floods in the affected areas.

The amount that SMEs and self-employed professionals may request in these financing transactions ranges from a minimum of 25,000 euros to a maximum of one million euros.

The agreement signed between Banco Sabadell and the Valencian Community’s Afin SGR sets the maximum term of the contract for working capital loans at five years, for which a grace period of up to one year may be established. For investment loans, the maximum term will be ten years with a maximum grace period of three years.

For the head of Banco Sabadell’s Eastern Territorial Division, Fernando Canós, this agreement “is a further testament to the support that we have been offering to all of our customers, particularly to SMEs, the self-employed and local shops and businesses, so that they may continue their professional activities”.

At Banco Sabadell we are firmly committed to supporting all of our customers in their day-to-day lives and, in the case of SMEs and the self-employed in the Autonomous Community of Valencia, we are taking a very active role to ensure that shops and businesses can return to normal”, said Canós.

This is the latest of several initiatives currently underway to help families and the self-employed. For example, Banco Sabadell decided to waive cash withdrawal fees at ATMs, offer discounted POS device maintenance fees for merchants, roll out mobile branches and ATMs to serve those in the worst affected areas and open local centres to offer assistance to those applying for financing and to help them meet their needs following these exceptional circumstances.

The Bank also approved a 100 million euro extension of the line of credit available to the government (Generalitat) of Valencia.

Account for donations to help those affected

When news broke out about the devastating effects of the DANA flash floods in the Valencian Community, Banco Sabadell activated its extraordinary emergency protocol to offer telephone assistance to its customers affected by the floods, in addition to a direct service channel for insurance claims and a telephone helpline for individuals and companies. Staff at the Bank will analyse each specific case to offer the best solution. The telephone number for Banco Sabadell customers affected by DANA is (+34) 963 68 98 72.

The Bank also opened a current account to receive donations from citizens to rebuild the affected areas. The account received a total of 8.5 million euros, three million of which were donated by Banco Sabadell.
