At Banco Sabadell, through Sabadell Protection, we are supporting cancer research to contribute to the fight against this disease and to develop new treatments, prevention systems and, ultimately, to assist and be there for patients and their families.

According to data from the Association Against Cancer, in Spain, more than 119,000 women suffer from cancer each year and this disease has emotional and social consequences that need to be treated through comprehensive care.

Specifically; to help these women and their families at the time of diagnosis, during the treatment of the disease as well as during the period of reincorporation into their daily lives, the Spanish Association Against Cancer has the ‘Comprehensive Support for Women with Cancer’ initiative. It strives to improve the lives of women with cancer and their families by providing them with emotional and social support, physiotherapy and nutrition services and medical guidance.

Sabadell Protection has joined this project by donating €20,000 thanks to the life insurance policy Life Care Woman. In this way, the organisation continues to collaborate with the AECC in different projects to help women. This donation brings the total amount donated to €154,000 to support research, of which €75,000 has been earmarked for the biobanks used for scientific research.

Claudio Chiesa, general manager of BanSabadell Seguros, claims that ‘collaboration with the Association Against Cancer in Barcelona has become a fundamental pillar for all of us who are part of Sabadell Protection. And it is precisely because of projects like this, such as Comprehensive Care to Female Cancer Patients, in which we participate, that we created Life Care Woman, a life insurance policy that contributes to research against female cancer and which is advancing a provision of up to €70,000 in the case of cancer. Now, we wanted to donate €20,000 towards this project which works to minimise women’s emotional and psychological disorders due to cancer, to facilitate their access to social resources and to boost their self-esteem and empowerment. And I couldn’t feel any prouder’.

Dr Laureano Molins, president of the Spanish Association Against Cancer in Barcelona, has expressed his gratitude: ‘Collaborations such as those of BanSabadell Vida help us continue and improve our patient care programmes, in particular for women with cancer. This way, we can continue helping, giving support and being by patients’ and their family’s side throughout the entire process of the disease.’

Below, we have included the testimony of Marta, a woman who has participated in this project and who tells us about the reality and the day-to-day life of a cancer patient.
