The Board of Directors of Banco Sabadell has approved the appointment of Albert Figueras as the new Director of the branch network in Spain, a role that he will take up on 1 February 2026 following the retirement of Jaime Matas, the current Branch Network Director, on 31 January.

Figueras has been General Manager of Banco Sabadell Mexico since May 2023. He will be replaced by José Iragorri, currently Head of Corporate & Investment Banking at Sabadell Mexico.

Figueras new position as Director of Banco Sabadell’s branch network is key to achieving the Institution’s objectives, as it involves coordinating and implementing the commercial strategy of the different regional offices in Spain.

Matas will leave Banco Sabadell on 31 January, after nearly 50 years of non-stop commitment to the Institution. He has worked as part of the branch network in Catalonia and Andalusia, and had particularly close ties with the Eastern Territorial region (Community of Valencia, Murcia and Balearic Islands), where he took over management of Business for that region following the integration of CAM. In 2021, he was appointed Director of the Bank’s branch network.

Albert Figueras, who will take on his new role on 1 February, has been General Manager of the Bank’s subsidiary in Mexico since April 2023. The Mexican subsidiary ended the third quarter of 2025 with net profit of 50 million euros, which indicates a year-on-year increase of 21.3%. Figueras, an electronics and telecommunications engineer, arrived in Mexico following his previous role as Banco Sabadell’s Head of Businesses and Self-Employed.

José Iragorri, who has a Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Mexico and a Master’s degree in International Business from the University of Valencia, also has extensive experience in the financial sector, mainly in Mexico, where he worked first at CitiBanamex for 10 years and subsequently at HSBC Mexico for 13 years.

González-Bueno has highlighted his significant contribution to the growth of Sabadell Mexico through corporate banking since joining the Bank in 2023, and expressed his certainty that “he will continue to make a great contribution in his new role”.
