Banco Sabadell is reaffirming its commitment and business leadership in the startup segment by opening a new hub devoted to the entrepreneurial ecosystem. The Institution, through its BStartup service, the first of its kind among Spanish banks, has opened a hub dedicated exclusively to startups and scaleups in Madrid, at number 65, Calle Núñez de Balboa.
BStartup Hub Madrid, which offers 600 square meters and a dozen highly specialised professionals, will soon be one of two hubs, as a new BStartup Hub will be opened in Barcelona in 2025. These two cities together are estimated to be home to almost 60% of all fledgling innovation and tech companies in Spain. BStartup also has specialised teams located in other cities, including Valencia, Bilbao, San Sebastian and Seville.
This new hub, which will serve more than 1,400 companies, is intended to offer a new space for Madrid’s entrepreneurial ecosystem, a place for meetings, talks and discussions, as it will offer its customers access to fully-equipped rooms where they can hold meetings with their partners, investors and clients, as well as hotdesking facilities where they can work individually. It also boasts an auditorium/forum with capacity for up to 60 people, where open events on innovation and entrepreneurship will be held.

Carlos Ventura, General Manager and Business Banking & Branches Director of Banco Sabadell, explained that these new spaces are “the result of our ongoing efforts to become more specialised, which we began in 2013 in order to be the best possible financial partner for startups. We believed that those young innovative firms would grow to become large corporations, and we were not wrong. The activities that we have undertaken together are what have prompted us to create this space”, he added.
José Manuel Candela, Assistant General Manager and Head of Banco Sabadell’s Central Territorial Division, indicated that “the new space was conceived in response to the growing number of startups and scaleups in Madrid and the trust that they have put in Sabadell. From this new hub we will offer fully specialised financial services to our over 1,400 startup and scaleup clients. We also want it to be a new space for talks and discussions for Madrid’s entrepreneurial ecosystem”, he specified.
BStartup was created 11 years ago to meet the needs of the then relatively new market of startups – fledgling tech companies that were growing very rapidly and whose business and financing models differed from those of traditional firms.
Since then, Banco Sabadell, which offers startups an end-to-end service that includes advice, financial services, bank finance and equity investment, has cemented its place as the top bank for startups and today has more than 5,500 startup clients throughout Spain. It has also invested in 96 startups.
