Urquijo Gestión SGIIC, Banco Sabadell Group’s UCITS management company, is celebrating its 40th anniversary after surpassing the 3.9 billion mark in assets under management. As at the end of October, this figure had increased by almost 19% since the beginning of the year.

Over the past decade, the business has delivered remarkable growth. In 2015, assets under management amounted to approximately 1 billion euros, meaning they have almost quadrupled.

Since its foundation in 1985, Urquijo Gestión SGIIC has been a pioneer in the Spanish financial sector. It was the first asset manager to be registered with Spain’s CNMV (National Securities Market Commission) under number 1 in the Register of Asset Management Companies.

The growth in both the number of tailored portfolios (56.05%) and the assets under management for this product (98.25%) has been particularly noteworthy over the past two years, during which Banco Sabadell’s transformation of its private banking model was solidified. This reflects clients’ trust, the strength of the operating processes and the investment team’s ability to create value under different market conditions.

Urquijo Gestión SGIIC’s team is made up of 25 professionals across five divisions: Multi-Asset Investments, Fund Portfolios, Business, Internal Control and Financial Planning.

40 years supporting private banking clients

Since its establishment in 1985, Urquijo Gestión has actively managed portfolios across a global investment universe, providing access to international markets, including Europe, the United States, Japan or emerging markets. In addition, it invests across all major asset classes, including fixed income, equities, alternative investments, volatility, inflation-linked assets, commodities, credit and currencies.

The management team includes specialists in fixed income and equities as well as a dedicated fund portfolio management team. The investment process follows a dual approach: first, a top-down analysis to determine the overall investment volume and to decide the asset allocation; and second, a bottom-up analysis to build and diversify the portfolios managed.

When creating the portfolios (fund portfolios, multi-asset portfolios, SICAVs, etc.), both financial criteria and environmental, social and governance criteria are taken into account.
