27 July 2026

Banco Sabadell has announced a new organisational structure aimed at accelerating the bank’s transformation, simplifying its organisation and strengthening its relationship banking model, the strategic cornerstone underpinning the bank’s future growth.

The composition of the Management Committee remains unchanged, preserving governance stability while supporting this new phase of transformation. The new structure will come into effect on 1 September.

This new structure will enable us to concentrate more resources and capabilities in the areas that are key to our strategy, accelerate the bank’s transformation and fully harness the potential of artificial intelligence to improve our processes. We want a simpler, more agile and more collaborative organisation, equipped to deliver the best service to our customers and successfully meet the challenges of the years ahead
Marc Armengol, CEO

The new organisation is based on several fundamental principles, including aligning the businesses with strategic priorities, increasing transformation focus and speed, simplifying the structure, strengthening accountability, evolving ways of working to foster greater collaboration across teams, and ensuring operational continuity throughout the transition process.

AI as a transformational driver

Among the key changes is the creation of the Corporate Transformation & Artificial Intelligence area within the Strategy Division led by Marc Prat. Headed by Robert Duran, this area has been established to provide an additional boost to the deployment of artificial intelligence across the organisation. At the same time, the Operations & Technology Division, led by Elena Carrera, will be further strengthened with enhanced AI capabilities.

In addition, within the Spain Business area, led by Carlos Ventura, a new Business Transformation area is being created to accelerate product innovation for high-value customers, digitalisation, and projects with a direct impact on customers. This new division will be headed by Jorge Rodríguez Maroto, Head of Retail Banking, whose responsibilities will also be expanded to include Small Businesses and the Self-Employed. His remit already encompasses financing, payment methods, consumer lending, insurance, asset management and Sabadell Consumer Finance.

Within Ventura’s remit, a new Commercial Banking unit is also being created, led by Albert Figueras, who will add responsibility for remote sales and remote customer servicing to his existing role coordinating the regional management teams.

The bank has also announced the creation of a new Personal Banking unit, which will be led by Xavi Blanquet and will report to Ventura. In doing so, it further strengthens its commitment to providing specialised, high-quality service to high-value customers, following the recent announcement of the forthcoming appointment of Adela Martín to lead the Private Banking business.

Accordingly, the bank’s business in Spain will henceforth be organised into five areas: (1) Retail Banking & Business Transformation, (2) Corporate Banking, (3) Private Banking, (4) Personal Banking, and (5) Commercial Banking. The Marketing Division will also report to Carlos Ventura.

Other changes introduced under the new structure affect the Finance Division led by Sergio Palavecino, who will now also assume responsibility for the bank’s cost management; the People & Sustainability Division, headed by Sonia Quibus, which will incorporate the Procurement function; and the Communications Division, led by Virginia Zafra, which will take on full responsibility for Internal Communications.

To enhance agility in decision-making, the reorganisation also provides for the centralisation of various functions currently distributed across different business areas (People, Legal, Financial Planning, Organisation, Technology and Operations).
