Banco Sabadell’s BStartup has granted over 1.2 billion euros in finance to startups since its launch ten years ago. This specialised banking service for startups, the first of its kind in Spain’s banking industry, has invested in 177 startups, becoming the main bank of over 4,500 startups. BStartup has exclusive services and dedicated teams to support these companies from the very beginning.
Banco Sabadell launched BStartup in November 2013, becoming the first bank in Spain to offer specialised 360º banking services for startups and scaleups. Three years later, the Institution launched Sabadell Venture Capital, to invest in subsequent stages up to series A. Sabadell Venture Capital currently offers equity and venture debt of up to 10 million euros, having invested in 88 companies and managed 150 million euros.
Carlos Ventura, General Manager and Business Banking & Network Director at Banco Sabadell, pointed out that “we have invested in 177 startups, and we are the main bank of more than 4,500 startup companies to which we have funnelled over 1.2 billion euros”. Ventura also ratified the Bank’s commitment to startups: “We have increased our team to 50 specialists, which will enable us to continue supporting the big companies of the future”.
Banco Sabadell, a pioneer among Spanish banks when it comes to offering specialised banking services for startups, has trained managers to provide services to startups at 23 branches throughout the vast majority of the country. As a testament to its commitment to a high degree of specialisation, the Bank currently has managers who are fully specialised in these customers located in the three cities with the highest concentration of startups, namely Barcelona, Madrid and Valencia.

More than 200 people took part in the main ceremony in Barcelona to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of Banco Sabadell’s BStartup, among them representatives of leading startups, Banco Sabadell executives, as well as business leaders and investors from the worlds of technology and innovation.
The day started with a Demo Day of BStartup10’s last eight investments in areas such as artificial intelligence, health, circular economy, SaaS, blue economy, etc. In addition, participants had the chance to discuss the challenges and technologies that will shape the coming decade, with the involvement of prominent figures from the world of innovation, including Juan Carlos Riveiro (Cercle.ai, Vilynx, Gigle), Damià Tormo (Columbus Venture Partners), Clara Campás (Asabys Partners), Laura Urquizu (Redpoints), Gerard Olivé (Antai), Elena de Benavides (Elewitt), Mariona Sanz (BSCC), Lucas Carné (011h, Privalia), Lourdes Álvarez de Toledo (JME Ventures), Carlos Blanco (Encomenda, Nuclio), Marc Coloma (Heura), Javier Megías (Plug&Play Tech Center), and Carolina Aguilar (Inbrain Neuroelectronics).
