The very best of cycling returns to the Valencian Community with the Valencian Tour that kicks off the international calendar of cycling competitions.
From 5 to 9 February, the provinces of Castellón, Valencia and Alicante will once again host the finest peloton in the 76th edition of the Tour of the Valencia Region Grand Prix Banco Sabadell.
Last October’s flash flooding will be remembered at this year’s edition of #VCV2025
The Valencian Tour will serve as a platform to showcase how the municipalities affected by the flash floods have recovered. The organisers of the cycling event wanted to highlight the area affected by the storms and raise awareness about the need for aid to continue to arrive. In particular, they wanted to send a message of recovery, hope and future to all those affected, demonstrating that, no matter how challenging the circumstances, it is possible to move forward with effort, perseverance and the ability to overcome adversity.
This message is also reflected on the leader jersey of this edition of the 2025 Tour of the Valencia Region, which features the affected towns and villages.
Banco Sabadell, committed to the Valencian Autonomous Community and cycling
Since 2016, Banco Sabadell has sponsored the Tour of the Valencia Region, showing the bank’s commitment to the region, sport and professional cycling.
Fernando Canós, deputy general manager and director of the Eastern Territory of Banco Sabadell, explained at the official presentation of the race, “our record in supporting the Tour of Spain since 2016 is very positive. We also have a strong presence in this territory, so supporting the Tour is also a way of linking the three provinces of Castellón, Valencia and Alicante, where we are close to our customers with this sport that inspires such admiration”.
Banco Sabadell has also been committed to supporting the areas affected by the flash floods, “At Banco Sabadell we have implemented a series of measures focused on assisting families, SMEs, shops and businesses affected by the storms so that they can recover from this situation as soon as possible,” said Canós.
A stunning route sets this #VCV2025 cycling race apart
The route of the #VCV2025 will see the team time trial in stage 1 in Orihuela and excitement all the way to the finish thanks to stage 5 in which the strong Mediterranean wind could play a major role. All told, 665 kilometres will be divided into two mid-mountain stages, a queen high mountain stage, the team time trial and the unique final stage with the finish in the Port of Valencia.
The routes for each stage are detailed below:
Stage 1 – Orihuela
The Tour of Valencia gets off to a strong start with a spectacular 34-kilometre team time trial. The first taste of the race will be a flat course with some steep sections, somewhat technical in specific sections, but above all a very fast time trial suitable for fast average speeds.
Stage 2 – La Nucía – Benifato
This explosive stage is ideal for breakaways from the start, with three mountain passes in the final part of the stage. Col de Rates, Alto de Benimantell and Alto de Partegat, an unprecedented climb of 4 kilometres, will make this a beautiful and hard-fought stage.
Stage 3 – Algemesí – Alpuente
This is the first stage that goes through areas affected by the flash floods. It could be a decisive stage, in a ‘leg-breaking’ terrain with the tough climb to Alto del Remedio, bringing back possibly the toughest mountain pass in the whole province of Valencia for this VCV 2025. It is a spectacular 6-kilometre climb, 20 kilometres from the finish in Alpuente, which is also set on a steep slope.
Stage 4 – Oropesa del Mar – Portell de Morella
We reach the queen stage of this edition of the Tour of the Valencian Community, which runs entirely through the province of Castellón. The route has more than 3,600 metres of positive elevation gain and four mountain passes. The two first category passes, Chodos and Vistabella, which will be linked 70 kilometres from the finish line, will be particularly decisive. After these two passes there is a very tough section with steep, rough and tricky sections of road, which could decide the outcome of the stage.
Stage 5 – Alfalfar – Valencia
A completely flat stage where the sprinters are expected to play a leading role. There are up to five sections where strong winds are possible along the little more than 100 kilometres of the route from Alfafar, a town affected by the flash floods, to the Port of Valencia. Will there be a battle to the finish? It will be up to the peloton. The excitement will last until the last day, which is synonymous with good cycling.
